Product Description
24 Hole Magnesia Cupel Brick High Capacity Fire Assay Laboratory Gold Analysis
24 Hole Magnesia Cupel Brick for High Volume Fire Assay Gold and Silver Testing

The Y&X 24 hole cupel brick is built for the highest throughput fire assay laboratories. With 24 independent cup holes machined into one refractory brick, it processes up to 24 samples in a single cupellation run — the highest capacity in our cupel brick range, maximizing cupellation output per unit of furnace space.

24 Hole Magnesia Cupel Brick with 96% MgO Content for Fire Assay Gold Testing

Product Highlights
  • 96% high purity MgO formula with a special fluxing agent for superior absorption
  • Absorbs more than 70% of its own weight in lead oxide (PbO)
  • No cracking, pitting or lead spitting during cupellation
  • Each cavity performs identically to a single cupel, for batch consistency
  • One-piece brick body heats uniformly and reduces loading-position temperature deviation
  • Excellent thermal shock resistance, ready to use without pre-drying
  • Not affected by atmospheric humidity, no freezing tendency in any climate
  • Higher cupellation capacity per unit of furnace space
  • In-house laboratory quality testing with traceable batches
  • Custom cavity counts from 4 to 24 holes and custom packaging available
Maximum Throughput, Same Quality

Every cavity uses the same 96% high purity MgO base and sintering process as our single cupels, giving each position absorption behaviour identical to a single cupel. You scale up throughput without diluting quality.

FAQ
Cupel or cupel brick — which should I choose?
A cupel is a single round dish for small or individual samples; a cupel brick is a multi-cavity block that cupels many samples per run. Both use the same 96% magnesia material and work on the same principle. Under 20 samples per day, single cupels offer flexible pairing; for larger batches, a cupel brick is more efficient and provides a more uniform temperature field.
Do cupel bricks need pre-drying before use?
No. Cupel bricks can be placed directly into the cupellation furnace without pre-drying. The high purity magnesia formula gives excellent thermal shock resistance, so a brick at room temperature can enter the approximately 900°C working environment without cracking, saving preheating time and energy. If stored in extremely humid conditions (relative humidity above 85%), drying at 105°C for 2 hours before use is recommended.
How should cupel bricks be stored, and what is the shelf life?
They have low storage requirements; store them in a dry, ventilated place at room temperature. Unlike traditional bone-ash cupels, magnesia bricks are not affected by atmospheric humidity and will not freeze or degrade. Under proper storage they keep long term with unchanged performance, with a shelf life of more than 12 months under standard conditions.
